ABOUT ME

Lindsey Sloan

Advocating for your child is a natural, though often demanding, part of parenthood. But when your child has additional needs, the journey can be pretty bumpy, and at times overwhelming, I’ve been there. As an Army family, we moved house every two years on average, meaning my children had to start over in new schools just as often. Each move meant new teachers, new systems, and often going back to the bottom of waiting lists. I already knew they were struggling, but constant relocations made things even harder. Only after years of struggle and fighting did we finally secure a diagnosis of ADHD for my son, as well as severe Dyslexia. My daughter on the other hand was diagnosed with Dyslexia, and later self-identifying as Autistic in adulthood. Understanding their diagnoses has been life-changing, helping them navigate the world, on their own terms.

Got questions? You're not alone! My FAQ page covers common SEN concerns that parents regularly raise with me, together with some helpful answers and suggestions.

The frequently asked questions and answers section is not intended to diagnose or provide medical advice. However, parents tell me that they find it helpful when they can see that others have raised similar SEN questions to theirs.
